Spartacus Momentum

I just spent the entire week watching Spartacus three seasons’ non-stop.

I must confess first hand that I decided to watch this ultimately because of Lucy, but I was really curious about the whole show too and like my friend warned me, it’s not all orgies and bloody fights. It was fuckin* awesome!

One of the reasons why I think this show becomes so great to watch it’s because of this liberating feeling that anything can happen, like there are no boundaries. Even though it was a time of pretty much black and whiteness, where there were slaves and there were the ones who ruled, in a counter thought, the whole idea could be even more liberating.

And I thought Lucy would only have a couple of scenes every now and then, in a few episodes, because my idea being that the show was mainly focus on Spartacus and the battles between the men. Thank god I was wrong. These characters, both women, and men equally, are really good. And Lucretia, Ilithyia and a few others are genius. Lucretia, played by Lucy Lawless, is the most wicked character of them all, seriously what a treat. The relationships she had with women, the crafty games she would play with everyone, the willingness to succeed in her perverse goals. She could deceive anyone and she did, including us. It was hilarious, wicked as fuck, unpredictable, pretty graphically disturbing at times, too physical at others, but so damn good. And Lucy Lawless? What a stand out performance. She was scary in that last episode. I was scared. And when she was gone, it was like I went with her. I couldn’t believe little Spartacus Junior was gone. I died.

It is inevitable that when you talk about the show Spartacus, you will eventually talk about penises, and penises’ sizes, which I experienced before hand and that can tell a lot about people sexual orientations! Because I still didn’t watched the show, only when eventually I figured Lucy was in it. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t understand some things.

For Crixus sake, I couldn’t get the deal with the women’s attractiveness to him, to this ugly beast! He didn't even had the biggest one of them...

Saying Glaber and Ilithyia’s marriage went through a lot is underestimating the whole story!

The character Spartacus grew in me gradually and Andy’s performance too. His absence was felted.

The prequel, Gods of the Arena, made this incredibly connection, the characters and the stories became much richer and Lucretia, officially, the queen.

To say that a lot of people die in the show is a predictable state. So about the swords and fight sequences, at first it felt a little tasteless but it’s exactly the opposite, it’s fucking awesome. It’s literally bloody awesome.

Should I say that this above sort of resumes Spartacus? 

Hmmm.

Spartacus is a compelling show that works really well in its own unique tone and as a whole, the wardrobe, the production design, the soundtrack being along these lines.
