What have I got myself into?

The bullshit that goes on goes beyond by depths of receiving bullshit! This has been the worst idea ever, getting into the world of Oscars, getting into the Oscar season. I have to stop this at once. It’s insane, it’s just insane. I want to care about films, and that’s all. The fact that history doesn’t matter, the fact that people say whatever they want about anything, from former presidents of the United States, to relationships between filmmakers, to investigations in Washington, and that actually makes a difference it just goes behind me, and all to get a name in a naked man? The fact that if someone with a name, even in the comments section, says something like, one of the reasons why Emmanuelle Riva might not win the Oscar is whether or not the voters are up to listen another French speech in a row – that’s actually me making up, because it seems that everything is countable, literally, that’s the problem – and if people care and accept this, it’s crazy. So I really have to stop caring, it will drive me crazy. If I'm doing this, I'm listening and caring and I can't! All of this to see someone win next week and then be completely – whatever? That’s it. It’s too political, it’s a lot of bullshit put together. I want to go back to when I cared, got excited and would be really happy, felting ‘justice’ because Marion Cotillard had won the Oscar! It was oh so different. You would felt the bullshit, but really, today the bullshit takes a whole new freshness, a whole new reality, so here it goes: you know what? Oscars fuck yourself!

And now I feel like watching Zero Dark Thirty and Lincoln straight up…love it!

No surgery for me; I did try Botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again.

30 Rock

Have I told you how much I love Parks and Recreation? I’m crazy about Parks and Recreation, I love it so much, and Friday is my favorite day and time of the week because it’s when I watch Parks and Recreation…and 30 Rock, from now on, used to watch 30 Rock. I just couldn’t/can’t get enough of it…oh and Amy Poehler will be writing a book, coming out in 2014. WHAT??? I want it now! But anyway, where was I? Ah, Friday, what I really wanted to say is that this past Friday wasn’t about Parks, this past Friday was about 30 Rock - the one before Parks! And as an admirer of the show and like everyone else who admires this show, I have to make my short statement about the last moments: my cheeks were sore of so much giggle. It was a sad and very happy moment. Like Parks, 30 Rock always made me laugh, always, no matter if I was depressed, pissed off, annoyed, sleepy or ignorant! I really really had a great time watching 30 Rock. I loved Liz Lemon (making lemons) through the years. I loved every crazy statement because they were most of the time significant, weird and crazy, even though I have to say I didn’t understood them all, they surely always had a meaning. And I hope I learned a lot about comedy too! I’m sure I did. I’m looking forward to what comes next from Tina Fey because she’s simply awesome and smart and NERD!

P.S: I went out of breath when Jenna started to sing the Rural Juror song, I giggled so hard…

Sometimes I get this 'tunnel vision'...

Tom Hooper is a British talent, working his way with Epic proportions. Ben Affleck, a promising American filmmaker, comes with Argo with a definite knowledge of what he wanted to do and succeeding in the meantime. Steven Spielberg, an American treasure working through the years relentlessly, keeps bringing stories to the screen that sometimes translates important history. Ang Lee defies himself in every possible way he finds, in every possible opportunity he gets; this time he defies the balance between image and storytelling. Kathryn Bigelow with her second feature about the recent American war on terror keeps struggling fearlessly through the realms of the truth, to the representation of today’s struggles in the American society.

These are some of this year’s directorial achievements in the film or Hollywood film community. I could go on and mention European filmmaker Michael Heneke with his strong, eloquent authorship, Benh Zeitlin with his willingness and eagerness achieves so much with so little that tranlated in an Oscar nomination for both. So we can say these are all invaluable contributors to films, they promote quality, even if it might be on distinct levels, emphasis on distinct.

Kathryn Bigelow is an invaluable filmmaker, with her fearless willing, like the others I also mentioned. And like the others I mentioned, they’re exceptional, like she’s exceptional, she’s among them. I won’t be talking about sexism and every other extreme demeaning orders of society, she’s among them and this is my entire point. It should be nothing else but this.

Let's cut the bullshit

Are people coming to their senses? Weird.

Apparently, via The Carpetbagger, Martin Sheen takes a different turn on his Zero Dark Thirty's view. It reads, "Martin Sheen, No Longer a 'Zero Dark Thirty' Opponent":

But speaking by telephone Wednesday, Mr. Sheen said that through his own mistake, the actors David Clennon and Ed Asner had included Mr. Sheen in their opposition to what they saw as the film’s tolerance of torture. “It’s my own fault,” said Mr. Sheen, who explained that he had agreed to a statement about the film without fully understanding that it would condemn the movie, rather than simply condemning torture.

Kathryn Bigelow, who directed “Zero Dark Thirty,” and Mark Boal, who wrote it, became aware of Mr. Sheen’s admiration for the movie when he spoke with them recently by telephone, after receiving a handwritten letter from him at the Golden Globes ceremony on Jan. 13, Mr. Boal said on Tuesday. 

Speaking separately, Mr. Sheen said he shared Ms. Bigelow’s expressed opposition to the use of torture, and said that the film had “done great, great service to the issue” by bringing it to the fore. Mr. Sheen said he had watched the movie weeks ago and “was very moved and troubled by it.” The misunderstanding with Mr. Clennon, he added, occurred only because Mr. Sheen had failed to speak with him personally about the “Zero Dark Thirty” controversy, relying instead on communication through an assistant.

I like Zero Dark Thirty even more these days. You know, here’s the thing why this is so interesting: when the credits were rolling, I was commenting the film with my film partner and she said that yes, it was a really interesting film, intriguing take, but then she said she was one of the people that still believes that they never found Bin Laden, she still believes in this possibility. And then there are many other things to be considered, there are these amount of layers to the story that goes back along way into the American history with terrorism and on top of that the relation with the oil countries.  About being Bin Laden or not, I really can’t say anything else but this: it is possible. It’s a possibility. Like the question, did they really land on the moon? But most of the people who questioned that, including in films, weren't investigated by the Senate, were they?

What I can say with certainty is that this film is about a number of things, especially, about American history. And this is always a messy messy world, the United States’ politics. Not only it’s a messy messy problem in itself, but then people start talking about it with little clue of the history involved and then the bullshit comes on top of the mess, you see the cycle? I’m not saying Martin Sheen has no clue about American history, but he’s one in one hundred, and if he argues like he did before coming and saying he made a mistake, imagine the ones who don’t know much. It’s messy.
