Cannes 2012 - Adele

Needless to say I love her childish smile...

Hoping to see Adele Haenel around Cannes, she has a film called "Alyah" showing in Director's Fortnight.

The story: Alex, 27, sells drugs and lives in the shadow of his brother Isaac. When his cousin tells him he's opened a restaurant in Tel Aviv, Alex considers starting over.

Parks and Recreation

I don’t know how to explain it. I don’t know how to express it. 

I guess I’m in this constant awe for their work.

Clearly there’s something about their charisma, and yes, I’m mixing character and actor.

Because everyone is who they are, and who they are is stone cold fun and cool beans.

Because Ron Swanson is the man and Parks and Recreation is probably the best show in United States, possibly the world.

Because I wake up saying things like “When you’re capable of withstanding a tremendous amount of pain”. The way Ron Swanson looks at the camera and says “Both of them bitches”, and then later concludes, “Would I get married again? Oh absolutely. If you don’t believe in love what’s the point of living?” 
The way he directs to his male co-workers has “son”. 

It’s in the way Ron Swanson giggles and his seriousness, and everything else.

They are the awesome sauce that keeps me going.

All the months ahead...I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

In the Land of Blood and Honey

A film written and directed by Angelina Jolie.

She could have done so much more. The effort is tremendous, but In the Land of Blood and Honey could have been something else. The bonds and maybe other stories, but she chose this way. And I ask if it’s still legitimate for me to admire and appreciate the effort she made for this film. Because it was still an interesting and thoughtful one and now I realize why she couldn’t stop praising her actors, it becomes pretty obvious. They were brave.

It still is a brave film.

Weekend

Often times Queer fiction proved me that centering its subject in its cubicle didn’t seemed to work, whereas films like Brokeback Mountain did work beautifully, even if every film is always representing a community,  Weekend comes and proves the complete opposite.

“Weekend” comes and talks about it, shamelessly. And it’s so honest, so sensitive, so romantic.

How they imitate life like this? Some people get amazed and wonder for scenes like in The Hunger Games, I look at this film and I ask, for example, how did they shot this particular sequence (in the bus)? How did they capture that final sequence? Because the majority of the sequences in Weekend are amazing and beautiful.

Tom Cullen and Chris New are the men. 

Fuckity Fuck

It is potentially sarcastic and fun, but there’s nothing like the British swear. ‘Fuckity doo-duh, fuckity yay’ barely gets there. But there’s more. And it’s hilarious.

Girls

And she does it. She does it all the time. And how can she do it so well? She writes the most despiteful and disgusting men I have seen on screen recently, because they’re so authentic. She did it in Tiny Furniture, with unprecedented results - I couldn’t bare the character! She now continues her saga of jerks through Girls. It’s her disgusting lover, even the job interviewer, he’s such a fail. And recently, her boss.

I’m glad there will be another season. It’s fun.
