Parks and Wreck

Tears tears tears.
What a beautiful, heartfelt and pretty emotional scene, one of the most beautiful scenes to remember from Parks and Recreation.

Adèle and Césars

Adèle Haenel was nominated for a César Award, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Suzanne!
And so were her co-starts - Sara Forestier for Best Actress. François Damiens for Supporting. Paul Hamy for Best Male Newcomer. And so was Katell Quilévéré and her co-writer Mariette Désert for Original Screenplay.

Sundance 2014

from The Hollywood Reporter.

The talk from many films was so good, so interesting, so appealing. Obviously, this is what I can talk about…Pretty interesting stories or rather reviews coming from Sundance. You can always sense the films working out or that will work out and the films that won’t.  Then there are a few that’s just pretty unpredictable. Like the documentary The Green Prince, with two very distinct reviews here and here.
And then you have the names alone. Like Mike Cahill, who is back this year after Another Earth. He’s the scientist filmmaker. Or Richard Linklater with his exceptional film called Boyhood. Well, I’m pretty sure it will be a pretty exceptional film. You must know the reasons by now. It was filmed for over ten years, following the growing up of two children and the intricacies of their parents marriage.

Gay gay gay. There are some fair amount of gay to look at. Actually LGBT.

Here are the films I stand out.

Laggies
Because of Lynn Shelton. Because of Keira Knightley. Every now and then I am hit with overwhelming feelings of affection for Keira Knightley.

Appropriate Behaviour
I don’t like when people say ‘She could be the next this person, he could be the next other person…’ I know it helps to create a bridge of understanding, but at the same time it’s a pretty inaccurate way to do it. Above all, this person can’t be anyone else but her! Anyway, Desiree Akhavan is been compared to the name Lena Dunham and Girls. Her film had a great reception and I can’t wait. It seems everyone loved it.

The Skeleton Twins
Because there are twins. I like the premise. It also won the Screenplay award.

I, Origins
I absolutely loved Another Earth. I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

Whiplash
It was the premier film. Everyone liked it. It end up winning the audience award and Grand Jury Dramatic.

They Came Together
Wet Hot American Summer is probably the first reference. I just hope it isn’t something like the awful A.C.O.D.

A Most Wanted Man

Life After Beth

Happy Christmas

Listen Up Philip

The One I love

Obvious Child
Dear White People
The Sleepwalker
52 Tuesdays
Blind

Jamie Marks is Dead

Little Accidents
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night

God Help the Girl I like musicals sometimes.
The Cooties

Docs
Pretty much most of them!
Special mention to Lucy Walker, she brought this really special short doc called The Lion’s Mouth Opens. It’s fifteen minutes long and follows Marianna Parker, an actress born in Scotland, who’s about to find out if whether she inherited Huntington’s Desease from her father or not.

The Overnighters
Dinosaur 13

The Case Against 8
Rich Hill

Babylon

Needless to say - can't wait.

FF

I giggle so hard every time I look at this...mostly because I myself have a huge crush on Hélène Florent and love Suzanne Clément.

Farah Goes Bang

Féminin/Féminin

It is one of those cases, where I can positively say I've been laughing for minutes after the end of the episode.
You know the name Chloé Robichaud, or you should know this name by now - the Canadian filmmaker who premiered her film Sarah Prefers to Run at the Cannes Film Festival last year. A week ago, the first episode of her miniseries Féminin/Féminin for LesSpread the Word was released. I've watched it a couple minutes ago and it's just plain fun!

Watch the pilot here.
Hopefully, we'll have eight episodes coming in June.

Quote it

"This film is the most deeply personal film I ever made, watching my country change. lt redefined my understanding of what was possible. On the inside, if I learned anything, you have to believe in what's absolutely impossible. For those in (Egypt) who are still fighting on the ground, they still believe what is possible. January 23rd marks the third anniversary of the revolution. We wanted to launch the film in Egypt, but it wasn't cleared by censors. But it has been pirated, copied and uploaded again and again and 750,000 people have seen it in the last couple of days. I called Ahmed (Hassan), one of the main characters, and he told me, 'I can't walk the streets! Girls want to take pictures with me! The film has spread far beyond Cairo to villages you haven't even heard of.' This is the first Egyptian film nominated for an Oscar, and by a woman no less, and so this award means so much."

Jehane Noujaim, DGA Winner, for her documentary The Square.

Mr. Grey

The first poster.
I don't think I'll watch the film.
This is a consideration to Jamie Dornan.

Sarah Paulson joins Carol

Carol, the book adaptation, the film directed by Todd Haynes, starring Cate Blanchett as Carol.
I can't believe this. I think everyone is pretty damn happy about this casting call.
This is going to be interesting. She'll be playing Carol's ex-lover and close friend Abby.
Let's see how many times I'm going to read this book again until I see the film...

I don't make films for white people.I just don't. It's like saying that you know I don't need anyone else to verify my existence. I make films or I make art because I'm alive and I am an artist.

Adèle News

Cécile de France and Adèle Haenel will be working together...
From Allocine.

It is called "La Belle Saison", 'The Great Season', translated by words, and according to the director, Catherine Corsini, who Adèle previously worked for "Trois Mondes", is a much lighter film, per say, shiny, with positive, good and brave characters facing their desires and succeeding along the way.
The beginning of the shoot will happen in the Summer.

Needless to say, this sounds so so so so so so good. It's Cécile de France. With Adèle Haenel.
Last year it was Catherine Deneuve. This year starts with Cécile De France...what's next? Léa Seydoux? Emmanuelle Devos? Isabelle Hupert? Céline Sallette again?
Making dreams come true, one year at the time...
