Solomon Northup - "I apologize for my appearance. But I have had a difficult time these past several years."
It is so refined, so tremendously dominated, so compelling, so stunningly harsh.
P.S. At one point I actually said 'Oh God, what a slave.' Yes, literally. It's what the film represents.
Once I walked out of the theater, I weirdly looked at blacks differently. It's like the film enters your skin.
